Hollywood Headshots in Orange County

A few years ago my son got involved in acting, and I started driving him to L.A. for auditions, meetings with agents and managers, classes and workshops, and the occasional day on set. The last thing I wanted to do was drive up there for headshots too - and hey, I'm a photographer. So I dug in and learned what makes headshots work, how to sell actors to casting directors using photography.

Now I offer a great headshot experience for young actors and their parents, in my home/studio here in downtown Huntington Beach. It works like this: after your arrival, we spend a few minutes getting to know each other. Your personality should be apparent in the image, for casting directors to pick YOU from the hundreds or thousands of submissions and so we'll chat for a bit. Then we get started, shooting in a variety of locations here on site, with a variety of backgrounds. I believe in bright colors and natural light, and the spaces we'll be working in have these qualities in abundance.

We'll shoot a few hundred images, changing outfits once or twice over 60 to 90 minutes. It's all very relaxed and really a lot of fun. Then we'll review the images together on my 30" Macintosh display, and sort them. Together we'll narrow it down to 4 or 5 winners, shots that really capture YOU and look great displayed small on the casting websites and printed large in your 8 by 10. Select a font and style for your name and you're free to head home. I get to work retouching the images, fixing the stray hairs and blemishes, getting the color balance perfect. Within a few days, the finished JPEGs show up in your inbox, ready for printing on your home printer or via an inexpensive online source. I don't charge you for printing, instead I give you the files so you can get the best deal for printing. You can expect to pay around $1.50 online for an 8 by 10, with some specials as low as $0.96 - Adoramapix.com's recent price. I'll keep a copy of your images on disk in case you ever lose them but pass all rights to you, you have the files in your control to use as you see fit.

You'll receive:
2 to 3 hours in the studio, collaborating in a fun way to generate winning headshots
4 or 5 finished headshot image files in two versions each, one for printing and one for casting websites.
Why more than one? Agents and managers like to pick the shot they think will perform the best, and that gives them a vested interest in your success.
Up to 6 more lightly retouched images that you 'just like' even if they're not perfect for headshots - use them as portraits, resume filler or whatever.

You need to handle wardrobe, hair and makeup, and a parent must be present at all times for actors under 18.

All this for a flat fee of $295, payable half on the day of the shoot and half after you receive the image files. Sorry, no credit cards. Are you an aspiring actor? I offer a $75 one-time discount to actors who have yet to book their first paying job.
